Natural Edge Buckthorn Bowl

This solid wood buckthorn bowl was handcrafted from a single piece of wood from a tree in Midland, Michigan.

Each original piece has a grain that may contain knots or other features that reflect the wood species, climate, and growth conditions. Buckthorn is a highly invasive shrub or small tree that can attain heights of up to 25 feet. The wood has a distinct grain and deep golden yellow to orange color with reddish streaks.

This bowl was fashioned from a log in an orientation such that the upper part of the bowl follows the natural shape of the outside of the original tree. This imparts a unique and pleasing curvature and rustic nature to the finished piece. This item highlights the light color and subtle grain structure of crabapple.

The hand rubbed finish used on this bowl is non-toxic and food safe. Do not use for hot liquids or in the microwave, dishwasher or oven. Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Towel dry.
